Coffee should be served with a spoon and breakfast should be served with silverware. Unfortunately, we had to ask for both. Neither were presented with an explanation or apology. My wife's pancakes seemed burned to me although she said they were fine. My omelette was very good. The service was friendly despite the Sunday morning rush. We'll give them another shot.

Hot damn that was a delicious breakfast. The service was friendly and the coffee was strong. That crab omelette though....best omelette I've ever had! It's like crab rangoon for breakfast. All the yums. We're definitely making this a regular weekend brunch spot.

I've been here twice for brunch and have not been disappointed. The first time I came at around 9AM on a Saturday with a friend and was seated right away. The second, it was closer to 11 or 11:30 with a party of 4 and we had to wait for about half an hour -- still not bad for a Saturday morning though! I tried the traditional breakfast with two eggs, meat, potatoes, and an English muffin. It's nothing special, but that's on me for ordering an ordinary dish. The other people in my party tried the omelettes, which were fairly sizable and they seemed to really enjoy it.

The homemade granola and blueberry quinoa was a beautiful combination of flavor and texture along with a generous serving Enjoy for yourself .

Best breakfast place in Birmingham, and you definitely pay for it. Love the eggs benedict, waffles, and desserts. Have always had great service, with helpful waiters and waitresses. Seems well managed and is a fun place to go with family. Just be sure to call ahead and get a reservation. Sometimes the wait can be long!

I have been to Another Broken Egg countless times on Sunday mornings. Any time we have friends in town, that's their favorite place to go, because we never have to wait long, and it's delicious food. However, today when my friends and I got to Another Broken Egg around 10:40 (party of 5), we had to wait for over 45 minutes, and once seated, we saw plenty of open tables inside. This is not a typical experience I've had at this place. Our waiter came to take our drink orders, and we went ahead and ordered our food at the same time--we were so hangry!! :) our drinks didn't come for at least 10 minutes. When our food finally came (via another person, not our waiter), one of our group members' grits hadn't come, so we let the person know who had brought out our food. We had finished our meal and our waiter hadn't stopped by to make sure our meal was correct, nor had the grits come. We ended up flagging down the person who had brought our food, and he ended up going to get the grits. Our waiter didn't check on us until we were all finished with our meal and ready for the checks. I hope this isn't typical of the way Another Broken Egg is going, because it typically is my fave place to bring people for brunch when they're visiting from out of town. I'm only giving them a 4-star review because of previous experiences, but today was really a 2-star experience. Overall, they have great food, and it is worth the wait, if you're able to wait for it!!!

My absolute favorite breakfast spot. Everything on the menu is superb and the staff offers great service. Favorite appetizers are the beignets or city grits. Favorite omelette is the Hey Lucy! Other favs are the shrimp and grits, Black Bean Benedict, and Veggie Burger.

I love non traditional dishes or traditional ones with a twist so when I saw that this restaurant offers Omelette with lobsta and brie and cinnamon roll French toast, I was sold!!! The restaurant is really quaint and located in a street with boutiques and not too far from the Zoo and Botanical Garden. Since there was a bit of wait, we decided to just eat at the bar. Our waitress was very friendly. Both dishes were good although the French toast was as you can imagine, a bit too sweet. I loved the presentation of the dishes and just the whole experience there. Apparently this is a chain that started in Louisiana where the original "broken egg" is, so hence the name of this restaurant, "Another broken egg"... luv it! Yelp 100 Challenge! 2015: 9/100

Bottom line: not worth the prices. The portion sizes are pretty hefty - not "over the top" but definitely not small. It was just that the way the food was presented was nice, but the quality/taste was literally just alright. The description of the dishes were way better than the taste. I went with 4 other people, and we shared the beignets as an "appetizer" during brunch. Totally worth it! That was probably the only remarkable thing from what I tried. Also, they have free "to-go" coffee bar in the bar area: that was a total plus for me! I may try this place again because it was in a really nice area that had a lot of stores/shopping around so, I could see myself giving them another try. Service was really good, and that always makes me want to go back to places!

Although trying to get a table on a Sunday morning is like trying to pin a cloud to the concrete, the service, atmosphere and food made for a lovely experience. After a 25 minute wait for a table for four, we were shown to a comfy booth, offered drinks with a smile and left on our own to peruse the menu. I am blessed with friends who love to share, and thank goodness for it, because there were probably eight different things on the menu I wanted to order. NOTE TO OWNER: PLEASE come out with a breakfast sampler so we don't have to choose just one! In the end, I settled on the sweet potato pancake , which I split half of for half of a "Hey Lucy!!!" Omelette (Avacado, chorizo, onions, chiles and cheese). The omelette was okay, a little lacking in flavor considering the ingredient list, but the pancake was out of this world! Served with pecans, cinnamon maple syrup and whipped cream, it was more of a dessert than a breakfast, but you won't hear me complain! Definitely a dish to split though- the pancake was the size of a medium pizza! Despite the long table-wait, the food was brought out fairly quickly after ordering, all correct and all warm! The restaurant itself was lovely- big enough to handle a decent crowd while maintaining a little country kitchen feel. I'll definitely be making another trip- perhaps to the Atlanta location.

By far the best breakfast and brunch place I have every been to. Everything from the decor, coffee mugs, service and food was awesome. Our waitress was great. If I'm every back in Birmingham I will be sure to come back here to eat.

Surprised at the wait only being 15 min on a Saturday, my party of two were seated right away. We were able to sit outside which was nice and perfectly shaded. I have a weakness for Eggs Benedict. There are so many choices it's hard to pick. Plus they are gluten friendly and sub breads for gluten free pancakes. If there is one thing you have to get its the city grits. I had the eggs blackstone which hit the spot. I would recommend this place any day.

One of the best places I've had breakfast. Great food, excellent service in a cute part of town. I know this restaurant is part of chain but it doesn't feel that way. The menu has some standard things and some really unique items particularly if you're trying to eat healthy. All of it, awesome. I came here with a group of eight - everyone ordered a different thing. And it all looked and tasted SO good.

During a recent trip to the area I stopped I for breakfast and am glad I was taken here.. The decor was very cute and felt southern. I had the sweet potato pancake and eggs. The pancake was huge but delicious!! I tried my hardest to finish it because it was so good! The staff was polite and accommodating and I have no complaints! Well one, I wish it wasn't in a different state! I could see myself here very often if it was close!

I love this place. We went for Sunday brunch, and as expected there was a 30 minute wait....not a big deal, its worth it. Suffering from the news that the bar and my Bloody Mary was not forthcoming until after noon, we milled around the place, had a complimentary coffee and studied the menu. I immediately locked onto the Steak Oscar with 2 perfectly poached eggs, hollandaise and sauteed crabmeat, it was incredible. And from the sounds my son and daughter in law were making, their omelettes were likewise up to standards. We also opted for the City Grits, a wonderful concoction of gouda/creamed grits with bacon and tomato. They were incredible. The service was also a 5 star experience, and our waiter even steered us away from the Blackberry Grits (like I needed steering away from that) but he got credit for warning us off. LOL I've been here several times now visiting from Florida and have always left a happy camper. I don't get the complaints, you people are deranged.

I have never had a bad meal here. I am all about the eggs and meat. While my wife is more of the veggie variety. We both find what we want here. The potatoes seem like they could be frozen. But I still love them and are great. The only bad things are that there is always a crowd when I crave it. They can't help that they are popular. Also when I typically go, I am in need of some strong coffee. I can go through at least a half a dozen cups when I go here because it could be stronger. But the service is always great and will refill at will. This is a place that we take out of town guests because it is convenient. But even when we have tried to go somewhere else and can't (too crowded, closed, etc.) our out of town guests are always happy going back here.

The go to spot for large filled omelets, Another Broken Egg has a good long list of choices. I selected the "Stans #1" which arrived with a not quite hot toasted English muffin and not quite hot potatoes. But the omelet itself was excellent. Well stuffed with crawfish, shrimp and mushrooms, topped with shredded cheese, I ate all of it. Delish. Coffee was good. On a weekday morning, the place was packed and service was not exactly rushed. But it was a great way to start the day!

I would like to call this place a secret, but the crowds imply otherwise. Hospital night shift work downtown can be physically demanding. The frustration of finding a place at 8AM that one can restore caloric requirements while offering a spiritual oasis, can be even more challenging. Another Broken Egg is my getaway... Every dish is plated as if it were the product of something supernatural. The taste of it all corresponds to it's appearance in a positive linear fashion. It has been suggested that our expectations based on visual assessments of a dining establishment heavily effect our perception of food. The decor is pleasing and in no way distracting. In the morning, they grill a burger at my request without reservation. I find my self dispensing moderate amounts cash without any regret or hesitation. Breakfast of this quality simply cannot be found elsewhere in this area. I can argue that the clientele is distinctly mixed between the wealthy local community, the cubicle dwelling bougie middle class, and the undefined foodie community. Despite our social and political differences, we all stare at our plates asking "Did I really eat the bacon already?"

YUMMY!!! Whether you are in Atlanta or Mountain Brook, Another Broken Egg consistently serves up delicious food. I had their Southern Shrimp salad today (at breakfast time) and loved every bite. I substituted the garlic bread for multigrain and not once did the waitress act as if it was an imposition. This place fills up fast so be prepared to wait a few minutes but it is worth it. The parking can be a little tricky in downtown Mountain Brook but I've used the parking lot across the road at Western and have had not problems.

Love this place. A place that specializes in breakfast and I can spike my coffee with a little Baileys and Cream liqueur, I am there. We took a seat at the bar area because there was going to be a wait for a table. Get there early. This place is popular. I just hate waiting. I had the lobster omelette the last time I visited, Yum. My daughter decided to get the same. We were very happy with our choices.

  • Preeyam P.

This restaurant is more rustic and not as creative with their food choices. I expected a variety of breakfast items but there were just meats, waffles, and pancakes (no hash browns but they did have home fries). I was impressed about how fast we were seated on Easter morning however I was not impressed by the menu.

Despite the hostess' welcome that was one of the worst ever had (she looked seriously annoyed against the world), I can like this place. Our lunch was really good! Everything was properly made and tasted great. Although, our dishes were WAY too salty! That meal made me thirsty the whole day! No bueno. I want to try it for brunch, I always see a looong line in the weekends, I bet they are good on that too (or better) Cool spot!

Another great vacation find. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio. The menu is upscale with a good selection of breakfast and brunch items. The skinny omelet was delicious. This is a quaint cafe that provides a wonderful dining experience.

Be prepared to have the most difficult time...picking just one thing off the menu to try. Good thing you have a long wait time to be seated because you and whoever you're with are going to need all that time to figure out what you want. At some point, I decided on the Lobster and Brie Omelette which is basically a cream cheese filled omelette beneath a layer of soft lobster meat, a layer of butter sauce, and who cares what else what was on it. Everything was gone in five minutes. The service here was great and for those of you who don't like muffins...it's a different type of muffin in a good way.

This place just does good. You feel like you're walking into a local shop, but the truth of the matter is there are a good few in Alabama alone. This company does a great job at doing tasty breakfast/brunch as far as I've experienced down in Florida and here at this location. I'll say again that a chain does not bother me; it tells me somebody did something well enough for people to demand it in multiple market, and the business just answers the demand. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast is stellar. I think everything I've tried here was good: bacon, omelettes, potatoes, etc. Long live a delicious brunch!

Got there a little before 830 on a Sunday and while they were busy we were seated immediately. Noticed upon walking in they do have a bar. I am not sure if they serve Sunday morning. I digress...... Our server came and greeted us fast. He did not provide much chit chat and never seemed like he wanted to go that extra distance. The menu has many good breakfast options I opted for the Eggs Blackstone which I thought was very good. The English muffin was toasted perfect and the egg was nice and runny. I did notice they left off the green onion which would have completed the taste. My bf ordered the huevos rancheros which looked very good. My only recommendation for that is to not have a fried tortilla it made it difficult to eat and took away from the overall concept of the dish. My bf has 3 breakfast spots above this place but I had never been here so I wanted to try it. With that being said if and I wish yelp had half stars I would have given it a 3.5 and the reason for that would mostly be our blahhhh server and good mediocre food.

Best brunch I've had in Birmingham. Ate there today and was seated outside. I ordered the traditional breakfast and a pancake- everything was delicious- including the Mimosa. Our server was very attentive. Location is great- in the middle of mountain brook.

The food was delicious. The prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was pleasant. Looking for a place to brunch in bham? this is a good option. My guest and I shared the skinny omelet and then a more traditional meat and cheese omelet and both were great. the giant cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing and a mimosa topped off with a citrus vodka shot made for quite the finisher. needless to say, we left full and happy. the only drawbacks were the wait and the parking, which obviously worsen together. The earlier you can arrive, the better off you are to avoid the late rising or post church crowd. Overall, a good experience.

These guys make it happen. I was flying in from out of state for a lunch meeting in Selma, AL scrambling to figure out how to get lunch for twenty engineers catered in a memorable way. Whole Foods was the obvious option until we found out we needed to be on the road early. Enter Another Broken Egg. With one call, Justin (the manager who stayed late and still answered their phone at 3:30p) approached our situation with a can-do attitude and said he would create individual options with sides for $11/head. That is no-nonsense catering right there... Having heard their reputation for impossible catering tasks being handled promptly with success in Tuscaloosa, it looks like this location is lock-step in the right direction as a sister restaurant. Thank you for making YES the only answer to help us accomplish our mission down South. We are grateful to have found a solid supplier we can rely on for the memorable lunch we need to stand out in front of our business prospects here in the area, and hope to return again as more opportunities open up in the area.

So to update: order some of the lunch-ey items. That's where it's at. The black bean sliders are delicious. Note: the gluten-free bread these are served with look (and sorta taste) like thick pancakes. They're tasty, but just a heads up in case you're expecting something else. The burgers and sandwiches are great. The veggie burger, Santa Fe burger, Cafe burger, turkey melt--all excellent. Service has always been great here. Downside--this place gets super crowded on weekend mornings.

I've recently been informed by my dad that whenever I'm ready to drop the whole "adult" charade of working, he'll retire and we'll open up our own breakfast place. Interesting assumption there, pops. Nevertheless, it has been determined that if we want to one day own a breakfast shop, research must be done. Another Broken Egg didn't disappoint in our first stop of tour de bham breakfast. I never have high expectations for coffee in restaurants, but the coffee here was actually really good. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our mugs filled at all times. I had the sweet potato pancake to eat and it was so tasty! It was the exact replica of sweet potato pie in thick, fluffy pancake form. The pancake itself was only a hint of sweet, but cinnamon-marmalade syrup is what took it over the sweet edge. I would suggest asking for it on the side. My husband gave me his seasoned potatoes and they were good as well - kind of zesty in a way. Next time I'll be sure to get an egg centered dish - my younger sister let me try some of her eggs benedict and it was delicious, especially on the english muffin that all the egg dishes are served with. Be sure to get to Another Broken Egg early on the weekends. We got there right as they opened at 7 am and when we left around 8, it was very crowded and had a bit of a wait.

I love the creative dishes and decor of Another Broken Egg. I feel like I've escaped to a European country when I'm here. I tried the smoked salmon benny, crab cakes cavallo, blueberry muffin, waffle, sausage and scrambled eggs. I thought everything was cooked perfectly but the smoked salmon benny was my favorite . It's pricey (around 10-15 per plate) but we'll worth it every now and then :) Update: Unfortunately my last visit was inconsistent with my first. Maybe because it was later in the day... food took a long time and eggs weren't poached properly (yoke was half cooked) food also wasn't hot...not cold but kind of room temperature-ish. It was also so eerily quiet...no music in the background...it felt like they wanted to rush out customers.

I don't think I've ever said this before - but I wish I had ordered the cereal. That's not saying my usual "meat and potatoes" breakfast was bad - far from it - that's saying their cereal quinoa bowl my friend ordered was outstanding. I tried a few of my standards by which I judge breakfast - bacon, biscuits and gravy, eggs. The bacon was nice and thick, well cooked, the biscuits and gravy were pretty good (gravy was okay enough but not top notch) and the eggs were eggs. Let me get to this quinoa cereal bowl. I've never taken a liking to quinoa in any form, and i was skeptical about it as a breakfast grain. The presentation alone was just pretty - then you dig in. They cooked the quinoa in some form of fruit juice so it had a delicious flavor and was just perfect between chewy and moist. Then it's sitting on a bed of delicious granola, topped with fresh berries, and the crowning glory of banana halves covered in toasted coconut flakes. To add another layer of delicious, it comes with a side of coconut milk to make one big fruity grain-filled bowl of delight. We ended up taking about 1/3 of it home - and it was still good the next day. If I ever get back in the area, I will order the cereal. If you know my breakfast habits - again, meat and potatoes girl here - this is a high compliment for a bowl of cereal. Final note - a bit pricey (the cereal was 10 bucks) but the staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was clean, a little cozy, and perfect for a nice Saturday outing.

Absolute must go to for breakfast or brunch. My favorite is the Benedict Oscar, cooked absolute perfectly every time! I have been to the Mountain Brook location, Panama City and Destin, all supurb! They have the best Prach Bellinis and Bloody Marys I've ever had!! Great atmosphere and food!

I have never had a bad experience here. The food is wonderful and the service is delightful. It is situated in downtown Mountain Brook, across from some great little shops, which you can browse while waiting for a table or to walk off those pancakes.

This is my favorite place for breakfast in Birmingham. It's simple: the blueberry pancakes are superb (and gorgeous to look at, if you can believe that). One may upgrade to real Vermont maple syrup, which is absolutely essential to the enjoyment of a really good pancake! The eggs and breakfast meats are excellent. Finally, the black coffee is delicious, and that is actually unusual at most restaurants. Service was friendly and swift each time I've been. This is a very attractive, casual restaurant in the beautiful Mountain Brook shopping district. What's not to like? This place is outstanding!

I was in town for my son's basketball tournament and stuck in some terrible part of Birmingham extremely hungry. I actually downloaded YELP for the sole purpose of finding a quality breakfast spot! I got there around 11 am on Sunday so I anticipated a wait which the hostess informed me would be about 45 minutes. Thankfully there was one open spot at the bar so I snatched it. I don't know if it was the fact that I was starving or that I had a long night, but this place serves up the best omelette I've ever had. If I ever come back thru Birmingham, I'm definitely coming back.

The wait was about 30 mins but it was worth it. The food was good and filling! Not really much to say about breakfast. The service was wonderful as well no complaints over here! I recommend the omelette and the potatoes are good as well! The pancakes were nice and fluffy as well as the French toast! Check em out you won't be disappointed.

YUM!! I have eaten here at least three times, all for early morning business meetings and even at 7am the staff is nice, attentive, and the food is always beyond wonderful. I have had several omelet dishes and they are all prepared and presented flawlessly. They have a great menu and the food is served quickly. You just can't go wrong here! Very consistent service.

We stopped here for brunch one Sunday morning and were seated right away. We ordered omelets, I believe mine was the Chez fon. It was ok, the cheese was over powering and had a funky taste. We ordered a sweet potato pancake with brown sugar cinnamon, wow!! Simply amazing, that was the best part of our meal.

Wife and I were hungry, and it happened to be 10:15 AM. A tad too early for lunch, a bit too late for breakfast. Searched Yelp for brunch, enter Another Broken Egg. Reviews looked great, so we gave it a try. So glad we did. She had the Traditional breakfast, with bacon and cheese grits. The grits were MONEY--and I don't usually like grits (unless they have cheese, of course). I had the Lakeshore scramble, and added tortillas, salsa and guacamole. Breakfast tacos are my favorite breakfast item, and this passed the test. Home fries were the perfect complement. Will return soon.

Came here for Sunday brunch. Waited forever. The host kept telling everyone the same time 30 minutes, which was inaccurate. We waited about 50-55 minutes. Once we were seated, honestly we were so hungry anything would have tasted good. In hindsight, I'd say the breakfast food were pretty good - 4 stars. It is typical brunch fare. My girlfriend loved the mugs they had. If you have the time, it's good food. If you are hungry, bring a snack or stay away.

My future in-laws love this place! When they come to visit, we go back and forth between here and Over Easy. The wait wasn't too bad at ABE this time around. Service was terrific. We tried the french toast and it was delish! I had one of the omelettes for a change--yummers! Can't go wrong at Another Broken Egg! P.S. We love it too, just only for treats ;)

25 min wait but got a seat at the bar within ten minutes :) bar server was great, nice and friendly with a smile!!! I had the baqueza omelette with fruit (1.49 extra) instead of spuds with an English muffin.....the omelette was good packed with cream cheese and chorizo sausage on top. Friend had the lobster Brie omelette, he said it was wonderful! No drinks, just water. They do serve alcohol! Ticket was $29 for 2 of us!

Good, not great. It hit the spot. However, I was looking for- and expecting - something better. And I didn't realize this is a chain. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but wanted something more Mom and Pop feel while in Birmingham. Still looking for a fantastic breakfast spot...

Love this place! This an excellent breakfast and brunch location. Every time I come here I try to have something new have never been disappointed. My favorite thing to eat is the the baked bacon. Great coffee, nice people, but the food leaves something to be desired. The eggs were were ok, but the potatoes were AWFUL. Dry, flavorless and overcooked. I wish Birmingham had more brunch options.

I enjoy breakfast more than any meal, hence why I sought this restaurant out. I had heard great things and was excited to try it. We were told be prepared for a wait, which ended up being a reasonable 25 minutes for a Saturday morning. While we waited, we looked the menu over. There was a little sticker shock on the price. Expect to pay around 11-15 for a breakfast entree. I don't mind paying that for a meal, but have expectations it will be good. Breakfast took over 20 minutes to come out and then was cold. They gladly replaced, and offered to give us a free meal. Honestly not a fan of that...I ate it, I will pay for it! The breakfast was mediocre at best. Home fries are under seasoned deep fried potatoes like I could get at work cafe. In fairness, the infused bloody mary was excellent, worth the $9. While I like to give a place the benefit and try again after a bad experience, based on cost for quality, other options in the area and won't be back. In my opinion, don't believe the hype!

Come early since the lines are long. The wait is utterly worth it though. We loved the atmosphere and we received great service. Our waitress was sweet and outgoing. We loved the beignets and absolutely had trouble trying to decide what we wanted off the menu. Everything looked mouthwatering. Was really surprised that this was a chain! I had the Bacquezo Omelette and my husband had the Stan's #1 Omelette. Both were great. We also loved the beignets - we devoured those. Now that I know it's a chain, I'll be seeking out its sister restaurant in our area. Yum!

I'm from California and have family in Birmingham so I visit every year or two. This was my first time here, but I'll make it a priority to come back. The eggs benedict might have been the best I've ever had. Service was great and the atmosphere was good. My only complaint, and I could say this about almost any restaurant in Birmingham, is how cold it is inside. I still can't believe how cold it is inside restaurants in the area.

Mountain Brook is a gorgeous town, one that feels more Austria than Alabama, Another Broken Egg fits right in, with tasty mimosas relaxing you during the 40min wait for a table. Once sitting down, service is ok. The beignets were absolutely tasty, and the cinnamon roll was wonderful. My ham and cheese omelet was very good, but the best touch was the option to have chorizo cooked with the home fries. Chorizo is the answer to world peace. It is the fourth star in this review. Thankfully I was out with Birmingham natives, because it is a bit hard to find.

Had Saturday brunch here and had no complaints. Great service; out waitress was awesome! Great food at reasonable prices. Perfect portions. I love their coffee mugs. I ended up buying 2 to take home as souvenirs. I got to try the Mardi Gras Omelet and Benedict Oscar. Both were fabulous! Check out the online menu for their extensive offerings. If you enjoy spicy bloody marys, they know how to make it right here!

I've been here a few times for breakfast with coworkers. It's popular with the health field crowd and they treat us right. Love the corn beef hash and cinnamon roll French toast!

Went in around 10am on a Sunday and had about a 10 minute wait to sit down for two adults and two kids. The restaurant had a nice, clean, friendly atmosphere. Had the Bacquezo (bacon omelette with a bit of cream cheese + Monterey Jack, Chorizo) which was excellent (I recommend) while others at the table had the cinnamon roll french toast and the Hey Ricky (spinach omette with Chorizo, avocado + more; not a big fan of spinach myself but was told that it was good because of the fresh spinach...who knew?). The Bacquezo was reeaally good but the Cinnamon Roll French Toast was superb. The addition of blue/blackberries perfected the french toast. Coffee was a medium/dark roast and quite good. Staff were personable and polite. No real downside, an allround great breakfast. Definitely coming back when in the neighborhood.

The decor is country cozy. The staff is friendly. The place was crowded though, and there was a little bit of a wait. But, they give you those beepers to let you know when your table is ready and you can get some fresh coffee while you wait. I really enjoyed the banana fosters waffles. The bacon was baked and yummy. The home fries were so-so....kinda tasted like Ore Ida instant potatoes. But everything else was good and I was satisfied with my meal. They gave me a chocolate covered strawberry with the check...nice touch :0) I will definitely be back!

another place that baffles me. 4 or 5 stars? Give me a break. It's tough to screw up eggs so the least you can do is allow me to substitute meat and fruit for the bread and potatoes if I don't want it--even if it's another dollar, who cares. Also, I asked for Cholula and the rude waitress who never spoke more than 1 word at a time and only answered questions with "yes" and "no" looked at me like I had three heads. You serve eggs here right? Might give it another shot but not high on the list. Giving this place 4 or 5 stars is a total joke.

Breakfast does not need to be an expensive meal but it is if you go here. The food is good there is just too much of it. The beniegets are VERY good. The service is very good. I just feel that it is overpriced.

The first trip i was carrying someone for their birthday wish. Not Good! Thinking I may have ordered the wrong thing, or I tried it again. Just As I remembered, Horribly over priced. The food and bloody Mary's was subpar. Couldn't hardly get waited on. 2 strikes and your out. Will not be going back

Wow! Why did it take us this long to finally try this place?! Good grief the food is excellent! My wife and I have been twice, and aside from dealing with a slightly-grumpy server the first visit, the food experience was fantastic! (And our server the second go'round more than made up for the intro visit.) Between the two occasions, we've tried the Bananas Foster waffle (awesome!), the biscuit beignets (phenomenal), the triple-stack pancakes (a little disppointing - very tart, if you can imagine that for a pancake), the biscuits and gravy (the wife wasn't orgasmically moved, though) and a few orders of scrambled eggs and bacon (nothing to shout out about there, excellent or horrible). I can easily say that the waffle and the beignets should be enough to keep me going back again and again; and this is from someone who absolutely is in eLov with the Original Pancake House and its "49'ers". Keep in mind though, considering the location and the New Orleans flair of the food, the prices are a little higher than a Waffle House (lol); but with the specialty dishes, I think the prices are worth it. (Well, everything except the OJ. Seriously, 4 bucks for one glass of "freshly-squeezed"? I think I could walk in with a whole carafe of Tropicana and change for that price...yikes...) So to bottom-line it, if you're looking for a great place for breakfast or brunch, or even lunch (they serve burgers and such as well), I think Another Broken Egg Cafe would be a non-disappointing choice. You might even see me and +1s there - on an off "49'ers" Saturday that is. ;) Oh yeah, and just be sure to expect a bit of a wait on weekends - it gets pretty popular then. ;) Bon appetit!

I had a very good breakfast here today. I had the eggs Benedict on crab cakes and the food was delicious. My coffee was a little on the boring side but that's what I get for ordering decaf. I'd be a regular here if I lived in Birmingham. Thank you!

  • Kristin K.

Definitely hits the spot! My favorite are the potato sensation dishes which may not be on the menu.. But if you ask they can do it. Also, try the pepper infused vodka bloody Mary's.!!!! Coffee is also really good!

Good food. Mediocre service. I was brought a drink I did not order on two occasions when I came in here because the server simply wasn't listening. The staff will try to sell you on "specialty" house alcohol and more expensive items in a way that is painfully obvious. When they are not putting on the sales pitch, they are hard to find. If this place had good service, it would easily be a four star place, and I would return frequently. Because Birmingham has such a lack of good breakfast places (Demitri's noted as a standout), expectations for good breakfast service are low. Again, food good, service, not so much.

Beignets with the syrup? YUM light and delicate. Fruit platter? Double yum, rewarded with: fresh strawberries, blueberries, oranges, red grapes, green tart apples, and kiwis. (our nod toward good health) I ordered the Bacado omelet which is essentially baked crisp bacon and avacado slices with melted monterey jack cheese and it comes with delicious homemade salsa. (If it had been a tad spicy it would have been perfection) It was delicious, a tad on the heavy side. I had to save the rest for a yummy midnight snack. Oh and how could I forget, it came with potato home fries, perfectly peppered and lightly salted. My husband ordered Classic biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs on the side. I had to wrestle him for a bite and from what I tasted was divine. He grunted in agreement. They have the most delightful coffee mugs, oh and they even sell them for 18.95 (I think?) And me being a sucker bought one! See photo to accompany review! In my defense, it was a ceramic coffee mug with the cutest broken egg symbol imprinted on it. Oh go buy yourself a coffee mug! :)

This was a very nice Saturday morning breakfast and an excellent atmosphere. Eggs Benedict was a 5, Bananas Foster Belguim Waffle was a 5, Hot Coffee was a 5, and the Restrooms were a 5. The only reason this was not a 5 star restuarant overall was our breakfast had old blueberries on the fruit plate and cold home fries. We will return on our next visit to Birmingham and enjoyed our breakfast!

Let's all be honest this place is just okay for breakfast. With an average of $10-12 a plate I was expecting more, I was expecting better than diner quality food. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but I was expecting more than mediocre. But the hollandaise was flavorless and broken, the scramble was lack luster and I walked away feeling that the meal was just okay. The atmosphere was bright and clean, service friendly and prompt but the food fell a little short. Should have just went to a tasty diner for half the price and the same breakfast.

Its about time Birmingham got another decent breakfast place. Loved the french toast. Loved the atmosphere. They are very proud of their food here, be prepared to fork over some hard earned cash. They do serve a good product though. Our waiter was a little weird, but when the food is so good, you just don't care. I got the french toast and loved it. The bacon is amazing here as well. You will not be disappointed. I would put this on my "eat here everyday" list if I lived in Birmingham. Its in the heart of Mtn. Brook though, so it would be a drive. We will be back

Excellent food. Generous portions. Service was great. I had the Floridian omelet, my daughter had the French toast, and our friend had grits, potatoes, and toast. Everything was wonderful. The potatoes are the best in the Birmingham area.

WOW. FANTASTIC. DELICIOUS. This sums up our late breakfast at this relatively new Mountain Brook restaurant. We were in the mood for some good, unique breakfast food and I had been wanting to try this place....so glad we did! It was 10am on Sunday morning and the place was busy. We had a 15-20 minute wait that was well worth it. The menu is very extensive. So many options that sounded good; my husband and I both had a hard time making a decision. Since we were very hungry we decided to start with the Baked Brie- this wonderfully soft cheese was baked and topped with sautéed apples, pecans and raisins, served with toasted french bread. Highly reccomend this starter if you are a fan of cheese plates. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Omelet (which is filled with cream cheese and topped with a large serving of smoked salmon, red onion slices and capers) made with egg whites and substituted oatmeal for the potatoes. It also comes with a toasted english muffin. I LOVED it and completely ate this huge portion of food! My husband ordered the Plantation Quesadilla (which was filled with, chicken, chillies, onions, tomatoes, etc and served on top of breakfast potatoes with a side of sour cream, guacamole and salsa). Plus he wanted a side of biscuits and gravy- which was also a HUGE amount. He really like both and stated how light it all was. Needless to say, we were impressed and will definitely go back to try other items on the menu. They offer Lunch Items like burgers, wraps and so forth that sound tempting. Atmosphere is also worth mentioning - has a very home feel and light, bright and open, plus very clean, with a friendly staff. There is also a small patio for outdoor dining. I say give it a try for a fulfilling breakfast/brunch that isn't greasy and heavy. Some may consider it pricey for a breakfast place but you do get what you pay for here...this is not IHOP. And it is only open from 6:30am- 2pm.

Every bite of the cinnamon French toast was bland , I should have tried an omelette because the French toast definitely wasn't worth it. I think I'd rather stick to big bad breakfast.

Hot damn that was a delicious breakfast. The service was friendly and the coffee was strong. That crab omelette though....best omelette I've ever had! It's like crab rangoon for breakfast. All the yums. We're definitely making this a regular weekend brunch spot.

One beautiful Saturday Afternoon visiting my parents in Bham, I decided to treat them to brunch. I love my hometown, but its sometimes hard to find those "hard to find" good spots to eat outside of their normal chain obsessions. I am soooo happy I ran across Another Broken Egg as a Facebook friend's status (a positive effect of social networking, who woulda thunk it?!) Please note there are no reservations and you WILL have a bit of a wait, but its so worth it. After 45 minutes we indulged in... -- Biscuit Beignets...yum! -- Mommy, not so adventurous, had the standard 2 egg meal...looked yum! -- Daddy had the Smoked Salmon omelette...yummier (yes I tried his)! -- I had the Mardi Gras omelette...yummiest! Each meal came with their famous home fries, and if they aren't famous, I'm claiming them to be famous. Can we say I cleaned my plate and then some?! Brunch is slowly becoming on of my favorite meals - Another Broken Egg...you have aided in the persuasion!

"This place is amazing; it looks like a chain but not with this quality and service... It is a chain...oh good, any near Chicago? No... Should I open one? LOL no way that would be crazy-they have no liquor license!" We kicked off this birthday breakfast with iron skillet made beneighs, they were amazing, and I am sorry beneigh are not always amazing, here they were for sure! Lobster omelet anyone, sure I will! Off the hook! I have been on a lobster kick as of late and I think it was this omelet at Another Broken Egg that put Lobster fully back on my radar... There were six of us, we all had different moments of heaven, and all aspects were quick and wonderful, what a happy morning, thanks to Another Broken Egg... Oh yeah I must mention the chocolate chip pancake, holy amazeballs batgirl, this was one of the best pancakes I have ever had... That's saying a lot because I love me some pancakes for sure! Next time I am in town, I am headed for Another Broken Egg...

Sunday Brunch at ABE today - we got there about 9:30 and there was no line and we got a great table right by the window. Service was prompt and very friendly, so no complaints there! I ordered the standard Eggs Benedict - it was just ok (though I'll admit to having pretty high standards for EB) The good: Eggs poached *perfectly*, Ham was a *huge* thick slice, but not dry at all - very tasty. The bad: The muffins had been allowed to sit in the hollandaise, so they were soggy and kinda gross. I ended up setting them aside and using my hub's muffin that had been served on the side. The hollandaise sauce was too thin and oily and not tart enough for my taste. Really, it's the hollandaise that make's a benedict dish, and this didn't make the cut for me. I've been making my own sauce for years using Julia Child's super simple blender recipe, so I just don't understand why restaurants have such a hard time getting it right. :sigh: The quest continues - if anyone knows a place in b'ham w/ rocking Eggs Benny, let me know! The hub had the lobster omelet which he raved over. Serving size was generous and presentation was lovely. We also shared and order of beignets (plenty for two folks - even three). It's expensive for brunch, so we won't go back too often, but I'm sure we'll return - I want to try those crab cakes! :)

We stopped here on a random drive by while on a road trip and i am glad we did. This is not your greasy spoon type joint, food was excellent and staff was very attentive. I have since learned that this is a chain and i look forward to stumbling on one again.

Good news, Food is excellent. I would give them (and all the ABE's) five stars based on their food. However, the service at this particular location was disappointing to say the least. I can never understand how a restaurant can be at less than 50% capacity and the service be so-so at best. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't make me feel welcome. Will I go back? Absolutely, because the food is delicious. But I have the expectation that service will be average.

The reviews on Yelp drove us to check out Another Broken Egg, while on vacation, and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic! The location was cute & the coffee was plentiful. Both my husband and I really enjoyed the food. The service was a tad slow, or rather, our server seemed confused. He was consistently asking and re-asking questions we had answered clearly. I am not sure if he was new or what, but he was very scattered. But all of our service needs were met, and we enjoyed breakfast immensely.

Staff was friendly and attentive 5 stars for them. Beignets were good 3-4 stars. Coffee avg at best 2-3 stars...I'm a coffee snob. Biscuits and gravy was ok...when they cook it better at a hospital...that's a problem to me. Chorizo avocado omelette...can't remember the name was ok. It's like Denny's... food is good, you can do it at home....but if you're lazy go there. I just can't compare it to anything around here because this is my first time at a breakfast place in this area. However compared to wonderful restaurants in LA SF Indy NY DC Orlando...it's a 3.

I had the lobster omelet and it was unforgettable! The omelet was filled with a light fluffy cream cheese which complimented the lobster and egg nicely. The lobster was sweet and tasty and the omelet was perfectly cooked. That with a cup if their wonderful coffee and put a fork in me bc I'm done!! Absolutely wonderful!

Tasty but lukewarm food. English muffins were overcooked. Beignets were delicious with the honey orange marmalade, although they tasted pre-made (as in frozen ;) For some reason, the first time I went it was more of an "experience". Some of the ambiance was missing. Other than the fact that I was in great company (my family) the experience overall was so-so. Service was brisk, efficient, polite and a little friendlier than dry; although not as friendly as they could have been, however. Pros: There was a high health rating and the place is still picturesque. Overall, a definite cut above IHOP and Waffle house, although pricey for what you get. Overall a decent experience; about the best breakfast experience in Birmingham where there aren't very many great breakfast choices.

We are from Atlanta and wanted to check out a good local breakfast spot. Best breakfast spot we have ever been to and we have traveled the world over. I had a cream cheese omelet with crab meat and potatoes to die for. My wife had an eggs scramble with spinach and bacon. Sounds plain but tasted out of this world. The service and staff were awesome. This is a spot that you have to go to when visiting Birmingham area. We went to the Penn State vs Alabama football game and will be back again!!!!!

There's always a line out front, especially for Sat/Sun brunch, so we finally got to see what all the "fuss" was about. Sunday 9:30AM and had a ~20min wait, not too bad I guess. For starters, had the beignets. It was small bit size pieces and came with a citrus-honey sauce. It wasn't quite Cafe du Monde, but not too bad. I had the Bacado Omellette (bacon and avocado w/monterey jack omelet). I could see little green bits resembling avocados, but the bacon and cheese simply overpowered it, rendering it to be a simple garnish. Wifey had the Crabcakes Cavallo (benedict style with crabcakes). Eggs were poached just right (firm but runny); however, a little too much hollandaise. It was just ok, but nothing spectacular. All in all, it was simply "ok". Atmosphere was nice, with a real welcoming feel. But to have lines running out the door and around the corner, a little over-rated to say the least.

This is probably the best breakfast place i have been to in birmingham. The food is amazing, the service was decent. Yes there is a little wait but, just wait the food is so damn good you will enjoy.

This place is delicious and has more creative stuff than most breakfast places. I had the Floridian (omelet with cream cheese and crab) and beignets; both were excellent. This was one of two meals in Birmingham but it left a great impression. Definitely give it a try.

Went for the first time on Sunday morning about 10:30A, the day after the Tigers were crowned SEC champs. No one waiting outside, but many waiting inside. Our wait for a table for 2 was about 20-25 minutes. Worth the wait because the entire experience was great. Started with the beignets which were as someone commented not Cafe du Monde, but not bad at all. Country ham is always my litmus test for a breakfast place, and the country ham here was very good: cut a bit thin for my tastes, but earthy and salty as it should taste. Nothing special about the English muffin, it was delivered a little cold. Orange juice good, would have preferred homemade jellies and jams, and the Community coffee was great. Service was very good very attentive. Finally the place just had a good vibe...in the old location of a fine antique shop, nice decor with colorful paintings, windows facing out on a nice sunny morning...Did I mention that Auburn won the SEC championship the day before? :)

Fabulous. The first day we ate lunch there, we made birthday lunch plans for six months later. We now eat there just about every week. Please be sure to try their breakfast platter that has a taste of several choices.

  • Viva C.

  • Matthew C.

  • C B.

  • Brandon C.

WOW. FANTASTIC.

While there's nothing wrong with the breakfast/brunch food, I expect better from a place that specializes in breakfast.

Just what we were looking for - a breakfast/brunch spot in the Birmingham area with atmosphere, good food, and mimosas.

Every bite of the cinnamon French toast was bland , I should have tried an omelette because the French toast definitely wasn't worth it. I think I'd rather stick to big bad breakfast.
